What is a Dapp?
While there are many different definitions of what a Dapp (Distributed Applications) is, you can think of dapps as repositories for executable code (i.e. scripts). These applications are not solely tied just to blockchain technology but also include more traditional methods and programming languages like JavaScript, Python, Ruby, etc. The main goal of these applications is to automate tasks that would be difficult or time-consuming otherwise — whether it be finding a good restaurant nearby or playing music on YouTube.
What is metaverse?
Metaverse is a proposed framework for social and economic peer-to-peer activities. It’s similar to cyberspace but with an identity layer on top of it. The identity system helps to maintain the balance between openness and accountability while enabling various interoperations among activity groups. Such a system would support the development of many kinds of applications: social networks, marketplace, gaming platforms, and even government applications.
As you may have guessed by now, the metaverse is a combination of the words “meta” (being above) and “universe” — meaning, the metaverse is the universe above cyberspace.
